Meet Brenda
Brenda is a master Certified Personal Trainer (MCPT) with the American Sports and Fitness Association (ASFA) and the American Council on Exercise (ACE). She has combined her past military experience from the United States Coast Guard and Army with her California State Fire Marshal skills to become a skilled professional in the field of kinesiology. She brings a common sense approach to relieving pain, overcoming injuries and/or illness. Her philosophy is to pinpoint dysfunctional movement patterns that can aggravate existing conditions or cause them. Once those addressed, she focuses on the development of flexibility, balance and then, strength.
Yoga, Tai Chi, meditation, mantras, chanting, and singing bowls are some of the many skills Brenda has mastered to bring together body, mind, and spirit for clarity, calm, peace, and a sense of serenity for all those seeking to improve their well-being. She has an extensive Ayurvedic background and is certified sports nutrionist. Not only is movement important for overall good health but what we put into our bodies plays a large role in how we feel and move. Brenda studied Feng Shui in Singapore and believes that our environments can affect our health as well. With diverse background that includes the United States International School of Performing Arts, having graduated summa cum laude with a B.A degree in psychoogy/sociology from California State University and with the same high honors with an M.A in German and Antioch International University, Ohio. She has been the past president of the Central California Coast chapter of the Military Officers Association of America, past board member of the Military Order of the World Wars and lifetime member of the American Legion and charter member of the Women in Military Service for America Memorial Foundation.
After serving in the military, Brenda obtained a fire prevention/instructor certification from the California State Fire Marshal’s office, working for the Fresno Fire Department before using taining and experience with the university of California, Santa Barbara as an Environmental Health and Safety Officer. In additiona, she has had her own radio talk show and taught piano for several years. She spent 18 years developing wellness programs for villages, schools and resorts in the Yasawa Islands of Fiji. She has taught extensively around the world. Currently she also can be found at La Quinta Resort, the Citrus, La Quinta Country Club, Mountain View Country Club and Ara Pilates and Movement where she works with clients as solos, duets or small groups.
